Legend of Zelda Fan Rumors Were "Frustrating" to Donkey Kong Game DevelopersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in rumors suggesting that Retro Studios was working on the next Zelda game.
The artist had worked on the PlayStation's Uncharted series and, for reasons unknown, it caused fans to draw an association. However, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the beginning, and after the game's official unveiling took place at the time, many Zelda gamers slammed the game because they were expecting something else. In a recent interview on The Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky exposed the source of the rumor that caused discontent for the team developing the game.
"Sometimes it's frustrating because it causes false expectations. I believe that was the case when we announced Tropical Freeze. You know, everyone was saying 'they're working hard on a Zelda game and they're working on something like a Zelda game' however, they were like 'nope!. We've just announced Tropical Freeze and D2R ladder items buy it looks amazing and is gorgeous but then people go "oh, it's another Donkey Kong.'
